hello, this is my first post on here and for a while, i've been lusting after the accugroove bass cabs but they are wayyy out of my budget and will never be in it.
recently i got into diy audio and thought that i would try my hand at building a replica of the accugroove el whappo bass cabinet and the matching el whappo grande (21" driver) the el whappo bass cabinet has 2 high frequency tweeters, a 6" driver, a 12" driver, and a 15" driver and the el whappo grande has a single 21" driver. they have accugrooves trademark cabinet-within-a-cabinet enclosures and the el whappo bass cab has a self-resetting protection circuit for the midrange and tweeters. basically i need some advice and tips for building these cabs. i have winisd alpha but no idea how to use it. its wayy over my head. could i also get some help and tips on that? another thing, could i get advise on x-overs, like what would the pros and cons be of buying a x-over thats already made like a 3 way or what not. thank you, blake |

Hi,
It is probably best to work out what you actually need in a bass rig rather than assume something will give you what you need as it is expensive / complex / the best available. For a 2-cab set up you are probably over egging the pudding. If you do not play 5 string bass or stand up acoustic bass or synthensized bass, so basically "rock" bass, then for live work something simpler would probably be better. Something like a 1x18 + a 4x10|1xhorn. Generally speaking crossovers except for the tweeter are avoided in typical bass rigs, extensive use of amplifier EQ being preferred. /sreten.
