While attempting to clean what I thought was speck of dust from the grill of one of my 27TBFCs, it appears that there is a clear plastic disk covering the centre of the grid (on the inside)...???
I know my eyesight is on the way out, but I don't think it's that bad, can anyone confirm that theirs are the same? I suppose this will make a difference to the dispersion if anyone removes the grid... (I'm still very happy with these drivers, not complaining). |

Mine also have the clear plastic disc below the grid. I believe it helps improve top end off axis response.

Hi,
The plastic lense or diffusor is there to lift the frequency response between 15 and 20kHz |

I see the same on mine. Although I haven't taken the grille off, when angled under sunlight, looks like the dome itself has a "flat spot" in the centre - which is a hexagonal shape.
Good to have that explanation. Thanks, David. |

Hi, Not really. It improves the dispersion characteristics, which are very good. /sreten.

Hi Sreten
That is a consequence. I was involved in the development of the disc at that time and did most of the measurements. Jon SEAS |
