Hi,
I am wondering, whether I should rather mate my Dynaudio D76AF with a: A: second hand Dynaudio 30W-54 B: PHL B30 4021 C: a second hand Dynaudio 30W-100 Xover Point will be around 450-500, 24 dB, active. The 12'' will be equalized to roughly -3dB 30Hz in a CC. Besides the fact, that the Dynaudio is somewhat cheaper in the beginning and of course is "retro" and would be perfectly "in style" with the Dynaudio mid, moneywise both are going to be equally expensive, as soon as one exchanges the pair of used Dynaudios for new ones (due to whatever). Refoaming is also a problem. I therefore suppose, a new PHL will be the better investment (btw.: K+H are supposed to use it in the o500c, xover at 520 Hz). Based on measurements I came across, harmonic distortion should be rather equal with A and B, C may be better, the PHL might have a little advantage in k2 and the Dynaudio 30w54 with k3. The PHL has 140 sqcm more Sd (400 vs. 539); beaming should start at 460 Hz (Dynaudio) vs 400 Hz respectively. The 30W-100 is a little off in my ranking, since it needs a huge volume according to published parameters. The 30W-100XL would be an option, yet hard to find. So, would you rather take A, B or C? Thanks and regards, Leif |
