Default Someone willing to simulate a TL for me?

Hello

I have been thinking to build a d'Appolito TL or ML-TQWT with Peerless 6.5 inch HDS exclusive Nomex midwoofers:

Woofer used: http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=3

For tweeter a raw B&G Neo 3 ribbon in dipole. I want to reflect the back sound of magnetostate to a sort of thin-wall parabolic cone wherein the line is conducted, the cone to avoid direct reflections to room wall, and to reflect sound into the whole room for an "airy" performance.

I wanted to simulate with M. Kings tables, but i am running on Linux here, little difficult then.

The cabinet should be around 91 cm's high, 20cm width and about 30 cm deep. (H 35.8 7.87 W and 11.8 Deep in inches) With the two bass-mids on about 1/3 and 1/5 of line lenght, a classic TL would be rather good to design i guess. TL output on front/bottom, like image but then with 2 woofers. The image is an TQWT horn, a TL will be slightly tapered line smaller to the output.

Is anyone here willing to spend about 15 minutes on the simulation on AJ-horn 5.0 or something else of softw. a classic (tapered-down) TL or a ML-TQWT for me? Thanks very much in advance!!

You could try something like this straight MLTL: 36in x 7in x 11.5in (internal). Tweeter 9.5in down from top, 3in x 4in (DxL) vent 1.5in up from the bottom, stuff 0.4lbs ft^3 from the top 19in down.

FYI a TQWT is not a horn, its a reverse taper QW cabinet.

Hi Scottmoose

In the dutch diy forum someone advised me that MLTL too! Will consider it seriously. Deep bass will be added by a sub i guess. The deep bass i have now is not fast enough in my ears, (reaches 32Hz)

Fiddling with AkAbak now, (userguide-pdf on linux besides the win-linux laptop) must say impressive designing tool! I wonder if i can simulate different TL's

Your rough sketches show a much more complicated cabinet than necessary and would make the simulation very difficult to run. You've now got a Helmhotz resonator (why?) in a design that's no longer a TQWT. Why not stick with Scottmoose's MLTL suggestion which is a simple rectangular box?

To be honest the rough sketches are from earlier mindstorms, draw that last year or so. Yes i am going try Scottmoose's probably. But will add dipole function to the Neo 3. Only thing is that the baffle besides tweeter could be brouder, not sure. (acoustic feedback back to front)

I have seen an helmholz resonator before in a TQWT design, to dampen unwanted resonances. My current ML-TQWT has some resonces too, aligned them myself on ear, a long process.

Hi Scottmoose,
I've been following yours threads very close cause I'm interested in straight ML-TL design in a TM configuration with the peerless above.
So i have an inquiry for you: when you simulate the above dimensions, have you visualized something like the attached?
Please note that I've converted it to the metric-system. Plus the internal brace has swiss cheese style.
Regards,
Mutuano

Nice digital design Mutuano. Where is the brace for? (it halves the volume) Is your design for one midbass woofer? I plan a d'appolito.
