good midrange

The best suggestion I can make for a driver *near* that small is this driver:

http://www.bmspro.info/index.php?show=item&usbid=10284&id=5055170

Most of that driver's mms is literally wound-up in the VC (which is a 16 ohm driver).

This means that the diaphragm itself is likely very low for its sd, and as a result is probably more subjectively detailed than other drivers that could only handle half as much power for a similar sd. The price to be paid is slightly less internal damping and as a result a marginally less clean decay signature.

Provided it is used properly, it should be *almost* exactly what you are looking for.

Hallo,

if the question here still is what midrange could replace the SS12M, there only is one perfect driver to fit the requirement in my eyes:

ATC SM75-150 (S)

Excellent sound at all volumes (even extremely loud).

XO at 350 / 3500 with 24 dB / oct will be just fine to handle 110 dB +
