L-pad attenuator for midrange driver 6 1/4 inch driver

Dear friends,
I would like to know how to attenuate the mids for a 3 way systems. Can I use a L-pad attenuator for this? Its said that the mid will dessipate lots of energy so we need a heatsinked resistors like the one in the caddock.... so friends what do u recommend?
