Default Tantalum Capacitors in the Crossover?

Ive tried Tantalum capacitors in the crossovers and what I found was the highs were filtered outstandingly... in such a way that nothing is comming in between the tweeters... anybody tried it? any experiences?

thanks,
ken

Tantalum caps are usually regarded as the worst sounding in audio. Some guys will not have them anywhere in the whole system.

And of course they are polarized, so you would need to use them in back to back series in a crossover. (You get half the value). Tantalums will fail spectacularly if reverse biased or over-volted.

I think that tantalum caps are completely unsuited for crossovers. But maybe someone else has found otherwise!

Tantalum resistors, on the other hand, are something quite different.
