Dear friends,
I want to build a pair of studio monitors. I want to use the following drivers. http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=129 http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=61 I want to use the crossover freq of 1800Hz which will suite for both drivers. I want to use 4th order active crossovers. Please give me suggestions on this studio monitors please. I am planning to use 3/4 inch MDF with isolated chambers for both the drivers. VDH internal cabling. what if I use SS 9700 instead of 9300 Please give me suggestions so that I can make my monitors be very good.. thanks, Ken |

You don't want to use a hi-fi 10" woofer with a 1" dome tweeter in a 2-way design. You'll have a bad suckout around the xo freq due to the early beaming of the 10". If you want a good amount of bass in a 2-way monitor, make a compromise and use an 8" driver. There are some nice 8" drivers that can be used in a 2-way. My recommendation is the Peerless 830884 HDS Nomex Exclusive.

This Eminence 10" might do it, with a bit of fidling ... but probably no better than any 8" ... except fore efficiency
