Hey Folks,
I was just wondering if anybody has done measurements on a Hi-Vi SS1 II tweeter? I know Zaph has done a few other Hi-Vi tweeters, but not this specific one. I'm just curious, since I have them in the EL3 kit I've built, and I think they sound great, and better than most commercial offerings that I've listened to. But I've been trying to learn more about the measurements that one can take of speakers, such as HD figures and whatnot and I'd like to learn more about what I'm hearing in relation to objective measurements. also - are there any good websites that can help someone learn about these things? thanks! |

I recently measured the HiVi Q1R's in my first loudspeaker, and it was horrible. Rough frequency response, and high harmonic distortion. They have been relegated to surround sound speaker status.
To learn, try downloading The Arta. It's a pretty easy package, and has good help, that will get you through your first few measurements. You should be able to measure the FR and HD of your sound card using a loopback cable. Dan |

Can you elaborate more on HiVi's Q1R? I am very interested in this tweeter.

Thanks Dan. Zaph gives a couple of the HiVis alright reviews, and a couple of bad reviews too. I'd be interested to see where the SS 1 II fits.
I'll check out the Arta software too...I might be limited to freeware or fully functional shareware for a trial period presently. |
