Default Mtm?

I'm sure this question has been aske. But, I have searched and no luck.

In a mtm design, would the mids(8" seald box) be better in there own air space instead of shating the box? Or dose it really matter being the are both both playing the same freq.?

Thanks,
Richard

It can't hurt, but it isn't necessary - as long as the box volume is correct.

Zaph did a study on this - well for a woofers sharing vs. their own cabinet in a 2.5 way. I think a 2 way MTM would be similar:

His conclusion with a 2.5 way is there are negligible effects with both woofers sharing the same volume.

Although... by separating the woofer cavities - you are adding bracing to the enclosure which may reduce panel resonances overall.

David.
