Cast Frame Magnavox 15"?

I've just got back from a seconds store, and saw a pair of 15 inch drivers purporting to be Magnavox. Except:

They were in a cast frame, with 4 legs only (each leg was actually a twin-spar). Looked like a modern car subwoofer, except for the style of casting.
The magnet was very small, possibly AlNiCo, but in a circular magnet cover.
The cone material was very much like other Magnavox woofers that I've seen - if you didn't turn them over you wouldn't be worried.

Has anyone ever seen anything like these, or should I ask on full-range?

Hi Cloth Ears,
I once was given a pair of 8" Magnavox speakers that match your description, I think they were made in Aus & had very good build quality, magnets were ceramic with a red plastic cover. Probably made in the 70's before manufacturing was given up here?
Unfortunately the cones had had too much booze spilled on them over the years to rescue...

If they work & the price is right, probably worth grabbing....
(OB project, small magnet = high Q?)

Confirming that they are indeed Magnavox.

I saw a picture of a pair just yesterday :-)

The magnet look like the attxhed? If yes, that makes it a big alnico,

I know that knowing tone - I just found the eBay pair you referred to:

So that's 2 pairs...and they're both pretty close to me

And I could read my pair, they said

Wharfedale Super 10. From just before stereo. I've found 2 or 3 "pair" where the 2nd one is the ceramic version.

Only one pair now. The pair in the local shop (which looked better than the scratched magnet cover versions on ebay) took a walk for $100 sometime in the last 24 hours. I'll have to see about these other ones...
