To do what? Work out the size of the box? Help with ported alignments? Transmission Lines? Horn alignments? Or to help with picking the type and colour of wood and finshes?
There is no best, only variations on the themes. A better question is worded as "I want to do this, on this budget for this sized room(s). Where should I start?" We'll then tell you various places to read up on things and where some free-ware to start is. For boxes, stuff like WinISD, Unibox and LSPWlite are free and will give you a start. Hornresp is good for horns, but I'm not sure if there is anything free for transmission lines. Martin Kings' Mathcad sheets are good for simulating the response in the (almost) real world once you have an idea of your design - and if it's just for yourself then it's only $25 a year. These can all be easily found by Googling.

Aaah! That sort of speaker cabinet. You might try reposting your second post on the Musical Instruments forum, as they do a lot of that there. Most of the stuff on this one tends to be related to the hi-fi speakers, which have different design requirements.

Yeah.. repost on musical instruments and you'll get more traffic.
You should say whether your are doing a cabinet for bass, guitar, or keyboard, too... |
