I have a quick question regarding port placement. I know in general you try and keep your port opening and exit the ports diameter away from any walls or obstructions. But a design I am fiddling with has the 4 inch flared port roughly about 2.5 inches away from the motor and basket of the subwoofer. Will I run into any problems if I go this route or should I just scrap the design?

Since it's a subwoofer you shouldn't have any problems as the main problem with a port that is close to the back of the driver is midrange being reflected out of the port which sounds really nasty.
