I use a active Linkwitz Riley 4th order at 2.4K with the Revelator 15W8530-K00 and it sounds very good to my ears, I've tried every crossover frequency between 1.9K to 3.2 K and this tweeter performs very well at all of these points. Any inductance in parallel with this tweeter will suck the life out of it IMO.

Just out of curiosity, how do you do a 4th order LR with no inductor in parallel?

Paul:
The reason kingdaddy doesn't have to use an inductor is that he uses active crossovers. http://www.linkwitzlab.com/images/graphics/xo12-24.gif (Put cursor on lower right hand corner to enlarge). Quote:

A First Order is fine on one of these since their Fs is just 500Hz.

Actually, I have no experience with this tweeter, but it is supposed to get very harsh if not crossed over high enough. It may have a low Fs, but most poeple say that you need >2.4KHz with at least 3rd order on it. Down to 2Khz with 4th order.
I would guess that this is due to the smaller radiating area of the dome compared to smaller tweeters. -Paul |
