Hello all,
I am planning to start a new project soon, and am in the process of working up a BOM. My question concerns the values of DCR with the required inductors, listed for the design. Will the difference in DCR effect the outcome of the design? The listed values are, L1-2.5mH--.65Ohm L2-.90mH--.36Ohm L3-.30mH--.16Ohm L4-1.25mH--.26Ohm I would like to use Solen 16g. Perfect lay Here are the values with DCR L1-2.5mH--.59Ohm L2-.90mH--.30Ohm L3-.30mH--.16Ohm L4-1.25mH--.25Ohm 14g Thank you |

Also, would it be possible to go even lower with the DCR without adverse effects?
TIA |

A good general guide is the inductor should have a DCR that's less than 5% of the driver's Re.
To answer your question, no problems with those values. |

You might be able to save a bundle by buying from www.zalytron.com I never bought anything from them, yet, but their prices are awesome.
Choosing an inductor with a different RE will affect the design, but not by much. The values you quoted are so close that any differences will be swamped by variance within the inductor's tolerance limits. The only exception would be a high Q notch filter. These you want to measure to make sure you get right. Dan |
