Default Parts Express H12RW waveguide

Has anyone tried this waveguide? It's practically free.

Parts Express H12RW waveguide

I have been reading too much of the Gedlee and Lynn Olson threads
lately.

They have me thinking I should give these compression drivers and
high efficiency pro-sound drivers a try!

I'll probably stick with the B&C compression driver like Dr. Geddes used
in the Summa, so that I can upgrade to his waveguides and foam
blocks later...

I haven't yet but I have been considering buying a couple to chop off the mounting end and mount some small full-range driver instead.

They look OK, and the price is definitely excellent. Pity PE won't post stuff here and UPS is too expensive.

The B&C's Geddes uses are bolt on IIRC, so you'll possibly need an adaptor.

Bolt-on? Well that's annoying.

Why don't any of the vendors show the business end of the
compression drivers?

Any recommendation on a decent screw type?

And while we are at it, does the bolt-on adapter change things?

The adapters are inexpensive.

Under $10 at Parts Express.

Because it'll state in the spec sheet what type of mounting it uses.

Depending on the adaptor, flare and driver, there can be discontinuities in the profile that can affect sonics. I don't like them.

More questions, if you guys don't mind:

The waveguide is somewhere near 12 inches across,
which should allow extension to 1200 hertz or so.
(13540/12=1128)

I was just looking at the BMS 4550 and 4552ND, and
they allow a little lower crossover than the BMS 4540.

Any real advantage here? I was just looking at possible
woofers, and it looks like I would be better off crossing
as low as possible.

Just an FYI, this will be home use, so I will NEVER push
the drivers hard (unless I want my ears to bleed).

I am looking forward to trying efficient speakers...

You want efficiency but wont push them very hard ....

I have been looking at Supravox 165GMF with the small horn TW2-20, or maybe a nice ribbon, the 165GMF could be mounted in a fronthorn/waveguide too
but it will need a sub or something ... I am planning on a 6th order bandpass sub, cant resist on trying

If it were my money being spent, then I'd go for the 4552 as I think it'd have less distortion at the bottom of the passband in this instance. I don't like running any driver right to the edge of it's passband.
