I know very little about line arrays, but could a column of HiVi B3S Fr's alongside a column of Apex Jr tweeters constitute a reasonable line array? (A sub would be needed for bass ...)
Check out www.aespeakers.com/pics/mini-line/proto1.jpg to see the tweeters. ??? Doug

Does anyone have an opinion about the suitability of the HiVi B3N (or B3S) for line arrays? I know the sensitivity is low ... but watts are cheap. Doug

It seems to me that you could maintain half wavelength spacing with larger diameter drivers than the b3s. This would both improve your low end response and cost less (or similarly) as you have fewer drivers to purchase.
I don't know how low the Apex-Jr tweeter can go. But IIWIYS I would find that out first, then pick my woofer size based on the largest I could get away with to maintain half wavelength spacing. Regards, David |

the B3N will have good midrange, but will not have bass. You will need a pair of subs to go with these arrays. I've read alot of negative stuff on using dome for array speakers.
Check the needles as a possible option. Jim Griffin's Needles |

Check these: http://www.speakersplus.com.au/produ...roducts_id=126 They have greater HF extension and better sensitivity than the HiVi's. Just as cheap. The Fr is low enough to tolerate them without a sub. Could be a better match for the Apex Jr tweeters. cheers Doug
