Default New Inf. Primus 150- dead tweeters in both - advice needed

I opened up a new muffled sounding pair of Infinity Primus 150's and tested both tweeters. Neither make a sound. Not sure if this is indicative of poor quality control because it happened on the pair. Since I traded a bottle of wine for them there is no receipt and no warranty. Options are 1) Purchase new tweeters from Infinity. Not sure if I have the confidence to go that route. 2) Purchase new tweeters from a third party like Madisound. Suggestions? 3) Do nothing or salvage the nice cabinets. The other drivers sound ok....Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, H

Original Post from another site:
While I have never been much of a fan of Infinity speakers, I could not resist the opportunity to get a pair for a 25 year old bottle of wine after reading a review in an old copy of Stereophile I picked up. I have tested them out on everything from a vintage receiver to a very modern one and they do not impress at all. Not only do they not come close to my other bookshelfs from Wharefdale and B&W, they don't even sound as good as my sons bargin basement Sony's from a target special. They sound very dark and muffled, almost like they were wrapped in a towel. The cones look great with nice movement. I do not beleive all the people that gave these great reviews are trying to pull a fast one. Am I missing something? Is there sometype of extended breakin period? Is there some special way to hook them up to make them sound better? Thanks in advance. H

Hi,

The stereophile review shows there a few weird things going on with the
crossover (see impedance) so new infinity tweeters are your best option.

But first remove them and check they are both open circuit, may be
a crossover error or an internal wiring error, or they are no so new ....
