can anyone shed any light on possible mods for these speakers?, apart from the obvious resistor and capasitor upgrades to exotic designs, and new internal wire (does antone know of any good cheapish wire for this).
thanks. |

The original wire will be fine, don't waste your money.
Replacing electrolytic caps with polypropylene might help. Extremely light stuffing of the port with BAF wadding (pillow stuffing) will tame down and smooth the bass a bit if you want to try that.

Hi,
http://stereophile.com/standloudspea...105wharfedale/ Indicates proper stands for tweeter at ear height are required. It also indicates adding some side wall damping may help : I've found solid vinyl (cheap) floor tiles can work well, but avoid the types that have a vinyl layer over some indeterminate filler. Or you could try bitumen paint : http://www.palacechemicals.co.uk/WEBSTUFF/30-2.pdf Reading the above article I'd be tempted to correct the bass bloom and possibly add a subwoofer, but to do this you need a pre/power amplifier arrangement, so it is not so easy. |
