Cast stone as a box material

Hey people :)

I've been looking into using cast stone (kitchen bench-top material) as a box material, particularly for the front baffle, and was wondering if anyone has some experience using it or information about it?

I want to avoid using offcuts and the associated craziness of spending weeks cutting and grinding them into shape, so I figured: it's cast stone, why not cast it myself?

However, at the moment I'm not sure exactly what's involved when it comes to soaking the concrete in sodium silicate (aka: water glass) ???
