Default Bookshelf Speakers

What would be the best mid-range bookshelf monitors for a 60 watt RMS 120 watt peak amp?

The question is badly phrased,

I needs to be something like 'For around $X, what are good bookshelf sized speakers to play Y style music in room Z size'... and in this forum ...'that I can build myself'...

assuming they're to be DIY, I suppose we'd need to know how much bookshelf space is available so a cabinet size range could be established, & suitable driver chosen.

Sorry about that, I'm new to this forum and I wasn't really sure how to ask.

What I'm looking for is something in the range of a few hundred dollars, small enough to travel with easily, with good frequency response and capable of good loud sound with a lower (30-60) wattage amplifier.
