Default Basta! software problem.

Does anyone know what this query on my screen means ?
Needless to say the software is doing strange things it never did before.

Cheers.

Hmmm.... sounds just like my experiences with electronic appliance warranties. I can never understand how they always time it just right, so that the warranty runs out just before the appliance breaks down.

It must be the same with those 30-day and 90-day trial softwares...

No the software is not under trial. I paid many Euros for it !

Nothing to do with a trial period ..............unless it's misbehaving and thinks it's so. That would make it naughty software !
Or unless it's something I did wrong.

I guess someone would know what that message really means.

Hi,

My guess....
Looks to me that you have moved the location of basta.exe and executed basta again from the new location.
Basta asks if it should rewrite register setting according to the new location of basta.

Of course, Svante is the man to answer this question.

Yes I did run Basta! from another partition after the initial install but I cannot remember what I had done.
Anyway it still misbehaves if I click on "OK" in that small window .
So I was trying to delete it and reinstall it but this window seems to pop up again. So it has left a trail somewhere and I can't figure out how to get rid of that to do a clean install again.

I did send a mail several days ago using the Tolvan web page but looks like the message never got delivered as I got no reply.
That's why I have posted here.
Cheers.

Yes, Basta registers itself in Windows on some file types, so that when you double-click on such a file, Basta! opens with that file.

The dialog pops up if you have run Basta! from another location previously. It then asks if you want this version at this location to register itself i Windows on the file types, so that this version would run the next time you double-click on that file.

Hmm, that was not very clear...

Anyway, the dialog can be avoided if you make sure that you only have one basta.exe on your system and answer yes when the dialogs pop up (there will be 3 or 4 of them, since there are 3 or 4 file types that are registered).

Edit: You may have to be the administrator when you answer yes, I dont think that you are allowed to alter the registration of file types as non-admin.

Hmm, it was ages since I programmed these parts, and I am at the wrong computer right now. Please let me know if it continues to misbehave.

Thank you for the explanation Svante .
I'll try some more on my own and see if the problem goes away.
I'll get back if it refuses to sort out the problem.

Cheers.
