These are relatively harsh sounding prosound diaphragms with more rolled off highs than the studio monitor/consumer units, so unless these will either be for a DJ/prosound app or you plan to add a super tweeter to get a wider 'sweet spot', then swapping them out is recommended.

Great price, especially considering what refurbed vintage units will cost.

Well, I've tried them all on a variety of original Altec units and overall I prefer high SQ SS with passive EQ over tubes regardless of topology and Class D is OK for the woofer if it has enough power, filtering. Chip amps can sound OK if well damped, but then the ones folks fawn over are too low powered to add an 8-16 ohm series power resistor.

well i was thinking about the 41Hz Amp11 which can do about 100W into 4 ohms.

it seems to swap them out its around 100ea for the replacement diaphragm.

i guess i will go get the LF drivers first.

probably run +24vdc supply into 8 ohms.

so maybe get 70W peak out of them.

have TVC as well to run with the class D
