Hi guys,
is there anyone who knows what type surround is used in Accuton C173N?
According the following picture it's double roll and it's not made of rubber like the units used in Kharma and Avalon speakers.
The old name of the unit was C90-T6. Is it possible it would be some kind of improvement?

Maybe a clone?

Is it really possible
$460 clone.... I couldn't think of any low/mid tech manufacturer cloning these ultra high-tech ceramic drivers and I'm sure they are 100% Accutons despite the response of Thiel & Partner that there is OLNY one version of this unit, because the fact they have custom build versions of some famous drivers (C95-T6) with improved baskets, spiders and ect...
I'm sure they are going to deny they has made the driver in the right side on the picture :judge: :Pinoc:
Could anyone who has bought C173N-T6 post some detailed pics of the surround and motor structure of the driver? :shy:
Thanks in advance

There are 2 versions, The c173-t6-90 and the c173-t6-96.

I don't think C173N-T6-96 is pure midrange driver. It seems it's a midbass driver cosidering the low fs - 37Hz and it has one roll rubber surround. Probably that's the driver Kharma and Avalon use in their speakers because of the higher break-up frequency compared to C173N-T6-90.

Here is something new and interesting information:

Old information is substantially different:
