hi everyone,
I'm going to build a 3 way design using the XT25 tweeter and ScanSpeak 4" 8640 midrange. I am looking for a nice 8 inch woofer to couple with it. Current candidates are Hi Vi D8.8 or ScanSpeak 21W/8555. Cabinet will be about 54 liters, vented. Thanks for the replies. |

I think, you should use the Scanspeak woofer.

Don't dismiss the Vifa M22WR-09-08 if you can find it but the box may be a bit large.

I find the Seas CA26RE4X interesting, but its a 10" or the Hivi M-series M12, but thats a 12"
Maybe the Peerless HDS Nomex 8" will do the trick fore you, seems like a nice driver http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=13 Fore tweeter Hiquphon is said to be the best As fore the ScSp M12 4" mid, it appears to be smooth, but it has a bump around 700hz The M15 has a rise in FR, but its above 1khz, so it should be fairly easy to deal with, but actually its not Actually the Peerless HDS Nomex 4" or 5.25" could turn out much easier to handle You may laugh, but I bet this little cheapie will do very nice as a mid http://www.visaton.de/de/chassis_zub...d/frs8m_8.html Remember that with a 90db 8" bass, you wont need a 90db midrange/tweeter |

How about the Usher 8955A? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=296-618
The 7” version is on Zaph’s site and has excellent low-end distortion numbers and a nice freq. response. I assume the 8” is similar.

Eton could be good...
They appear to have a similar design philosophy to Seas regarding stiff cones with break-up modes that are pushed outside of the pass band, except that the "hexacone" sandwich is probably better at broadening the resonant peaks compared to metal so they ring less. I can only vouch for the 7" 7-360 though, which I bought a couple of years ago for yet another diy design

Hi,
A major issue is your bass / midrange crossover point and BSC implementation. Without knowing this you cannot correctly select a bass driver. |

Hi Sreten,
I actually find with these things that it can be good to treat it as an iterative process. E.g.: choose some drivers, sketch a mock-up design, analyse it, choose some more appropriate drivers,... and so on...
