Default TriTrix -- PartsExpress implements MJK's models

I saw this in a separate thread -- and it was also on the cover of the new PartsExpress flyer -- there are probably some issues with the xo being a bit forward -- so the on-axis response is "hot" -- Curt Campbell acknowledges Martin's Mathcad models in the design:

This is very interesting. Certainly the kit takes care of the woodworking. I wonder if it comes with the acoustic filler? I'm sure it doesn't come with drivers/XO.
Does anyone have an idea what drivers would complement the design?
I'm looking at doing my first speaker build, and this would seem like a great starting point.

You can get all the drivers and crossover parts as a group ar P.E. In fact, I think they were offering a discount.

The Parts-Express Recession Destroyer, and their related CNC knock down kits have been a #1 seller and constantly out of stock since the hillbillies at PE finally gave in to consumers screaming for complete kits like that for a long time. Seems Curt's design for the XO's and everything else is the ONLY thing PE will cave in to and offer. PE refuses to offer anything else, like some other ones in complete kit form like in their project showcase. They would sell a TON of any kits as shown and proved by the recession destroyers and the related transmission line CNC'd knock down kits being out of stock constantly.

They are pretty decent and Curt says the stock kits are close enough to the perfection he came up with if a consumer would but all the parts for any of his TriTrix's separately. No real need to mod or change anything in the kits as they are.

Most everybody else was going to Australia for the complete kits- and they ship free to the US and other countries. Only thing is the kits from Australia are REALLY expensive.

Thanks Helmuth,

That ribbon tweet is interesting. I've actually never heard one. I would love to listen to one to appreciate it.

I like that the TriTrix kit is somewhat of a horn setup. The Zaph 3 way seems popular too, but at 4 times the cost. It's hard for me to weight them against eachother. i have so much more to learn about speakers!!

I built a TriTrix and must say that they are good sounding speakers. Well balanced but a bit hot on axis as reported. They need some break-in, speacially the woofers. They have good bass - not overly deep but good. I was very impressed with them while listening to Tracy Chapman. They were good with Mana Unplugged, although lacked a little bit of realism when compared to me B&W CDM7se at 10X the price. All, in all, you just can't get their sound for $250.

Salsero thanks for your input.

What would you build for your next speaker build? I'm trying to get something that sounds (a lot) better then my current Infinity Primus 252's (http://www.productwiki.com/infinity-primus-p252/).
Have you listened to any speakers from zaphaudio?

thanks
