Default using unshielded drivers near tweeters..

sorry for the noob question, but would using an unshielded driver very near to a tweeter affect the tweeter's performance?

Yes, it will fill in the missing mid and bass.

Seriously though, the powerful magnet should not affect the tweeter magnet. In fact you want the drivers as close together as reasonable.

Shielding is mostly used to prevent the EM field generated by large magnets to corrupt the image on CRT displays used with computers and some TV sets when speakers are placed in close proximity to these. Unless they're literally sandwiched together, a physical impossibility unless you remove the basket from one driver, magnets from different drivers do not affect each other. As CRT technology is becoming less common in displays so are shielded drivers.
