Theory is only a starting point. The proof is in the pudding, so bbaker can compare both ways. If he hears a difference-good. If he doesn't hear a difference-good. It's not a difficult experiment to perform. What should be a problem, and what actually is, are often two different things. In the end, his subjective preference is what's most important. If we trusted our ears more, people would move diffraction way down their list of priorities IMO.
Someone with more time than I can feel free to debate the point.
