Default And again, Yet another Tweeter question

I have these Sansui speakers I have been upgrading the cross-overs. Come to find out the horn tweeters are shot. I believe they are ALNICO horn's T-149 12ohm 40w.
I would like to rebuild them. If not, i have no clue on a replacement.

The cross-overs I rebuilt had Rubycon caps that i pulled and replaced with Nichon's i guess i might have over heated the posts on the tweeters. The tweeters are 12ohm and the Cap for them is a 100V 2.2uf Nichon. I don't know how to replace the diaphragms and deal with the 12ohm issue because most replacement diaphragms are either 4,8,16ohm so i guess i would need to adjust the cross overs, which I have no idea how to proceed. I have dis-assembled the tweeters and found the lead wires intact so i know a simple re-solder wont fix them. any ideas would be great. Thxz J Rogers

Hi J,

A 12 ohm tweeter isn't that hard to replace. You can add an extra 4 ohms to the circuit with a series resistor and an 8 ohm tweeter. Or you can change the value of the cap to suit a new 8 ohm unit.

Have you checked to see if a replacement diaphragm is available?

If not you either look for them on ebay or you find another tweeter the same size and adapt your XO and L-pad to it.
