Wink Klipschorn chat rooms web sites etc.

Hello folks: It's been a while since I posted on this site. I have a couple of questions. First I've been searching for a klipschorn modification web site or chat room where I can find lots of feedback on mods to the large horn loaded models. My second concern is discussion on compatible electronics to use with these speakers; eg. power amps, as I've heard that these speakers can be very harsh in the upper mids & hi's with some electronics. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks kindly.....................Fred Petersen (fastfreddd@hotmail.com)

Fred,

Have you been to Audio Asylum? They have a high efficiency speaker forum.

http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/HUG/bbs.html

I can remember finding a number of links from searches of the posts there.

Cheers,

I just got some Klipschorns and discovered that my amp has horrible crossover distortion at low power. Oboes etc - became horrific at 10-100mW input power listening levels such as are reasonable with these speakers. The same amp showed resonances in the bass. A temporary fix was to feed the speakers out of a 5 Ohm 0.5 Ohm divider. Distortion dropped and resonance vanished - as hoped. Class A with a reasonable Zout would seem to be reasonable spec. Maybe also LM1875 which shows distortion low and decreasing below about 500mW.
