Hi friends,
I need to make changes to my main speaker boxes. The main reason is that the foam surrounds on my woofers have perished and whilst I could re-surround these I want to take the opportunity to upgrade (using funds from selling some of my transistors). Current set up is very old and each box is configured as follows; - 2 x Etone 10" 100 watt woofers - 1 x Philips cone midrange (in its own chamber) - 1 x Philips dome tweeter (an oldie but a goodie) - 3 way 12dB crossover with impedance corrections and Lpads - Ported boxes of approx 100 litres (internal) made from 25mm particle board with Australian Oak veneer plus Jarrah and Redgum trim. Internal dimensions are approx 950mm tall x 310 wide x 330 deep. The ageing speakers have performed surprisingly well, but it's time to do better. I'm thinking about replacing both woofers with one quality woofer and replacing the mids and tweets with modern quality components. The budget is only about $700 AUS, but the boxes are in perfect condition and I can build the crossovers for nothing. My main bent is solid state amps so I seek opinions and advice from experts here. Given the costs of shipping woofers, advice from fellow Aussies in where to buy would be much appreciated. Cheers Quasi |

Hi, WES components (WAGNERS) in Syd have a large range from relativley cheap Asian units up to the more exotic Scandanavian brands. Pages of them with pretty good data. There are two ways of accessing their catalogue for audio and it might take a few minutes to get their products in an accessible form but it would be a worthwhile place to start. "WES components" in Google will probably work.
