Default My diy speakers with a (mid) problem

Firstly i would like to say i am using a sub mid and tweeter per side which at the moment is - diy ribbon tweeter, mordaunt short avant 902 (using the mid bass as a midrange) and an audiobahn alum8p as bass of which i know most would not consider audiophile but i have built many boxes and this is the best yet, just a few peaks to (try) smooth out which i know wont be easy but it sounds quite amazing and drums sound quite real with it.Crossover points are unknown as im using an equaliser on the input for the sub,and a very small cap on a temp interconnect for midrange/high,to cut out the bass.My amps are a music angel valve amp with kt88s for the midrange and tweeters and two mono 200wrms pa amps in my own case for the subwoofers. The main problem i am having is getting a great midrange(I just dont know what to buy...)...I know midrange is very important and the 902s are quite good in the midrange and imaging but i really need to better them so i can sell the speakers.I wanted the visaton ti100 but the price puts me off for such a small driver.I would like some advice on midrange and i would like to add that i listen to many types of music. Many thanks for taking the time to read this!

You haven't said how far down into the midrange your Ribbon will work, nor how far up into the mids your woofer will work, thus it is not easy to give recommendations !

Given you are using a Mordaunt Short driver - and I think it is a 6 1/2" {176mm}, or is it a 5 1/4" ? - then I recommend you look at some same size bass-mid drivers, or mid-bass they are some-times called.

SEAS CA18RLY and CA18RNX will cover wide range - one will work better to a little higher {look at their 30 degree off-axis plots} and the other to a little lower in frequency.

If 5 1/4", lookat SEAS CA15*** - I think it is an RLY also - there is only 1 CA15 SEAS on their web-site, so that will be the one.

You will have to post more specific details if you need specific advice.
