Default Solen Budgeto III

Hi,

I am looking into building the Solen Budgeto III.
Solen Budgeto III

As anyone ever built it? Heard it?

Any suggestion on XO design changes or driver changes?

basic description:

The Budgeto III is a two way bass reflex floor standing enclosure.
It's been design for the budget oriented audiophiles.
Wow, a two way floor stander for around 200$ a pair.
Frequency response 34Hz to 25KHz
Efficiency: 91db 1w/1m.
The tweeter is the Seas 25TAGW06 Aluminum dome.
The Woofer is the Seas CA21REX08 paper cone, which has very good efficiency and extremely good midrange detail.
The crossover is a first-order/third order Butterworth at 2kHz with Zobel and L-pad

Any comments would be welcomed!

Thanks,

E.

Hi. The woofer(Seas CA21REX08) is currently on sale at Solen for $46.62 CAD as it has been discontinued by Seas. Likewise for the tweeter($25.00) Also the crossover design uses the nominal impedance for the drivers. This may or may not work well. It may be cheaper for you to buy the components separate, as Solen includes in their kits things you may not use (such as roofing felt damping material, circuit board for crossover). Also, it does not come with any instructions.

Hi,

The woofer appears to be the one in :

http://www.seas.no/kit/Njord.pdf

Which though looking simpler is a far better design.

Other Seas tweeters can be used in the Njord.

Default Tweeter suggestions?

Thanks for the replies! (yeah I know I'm a few months late!)

I'm finally moving ahead with the project.

Any more specific tweeter suggestions for the Njord?

I'd like to keep the crossover simple (as is) since I have no clue what I'm doing ;-) ... yet!

I'm looking at the Seas 27TDFC...

Thanks again!

Hi,

Hmmm.......
Seems there are not many tweeters like the 25TFFC ......
That is well down at 1kHz of its own accord - so reducing excursion,
and allowing a relatively simple electrical crossover.

May get back to you if I find one ........

/sreten.

VIFA D26TG-05-06 is a possibility if you can find some, /sreten.
