Default Damaged tweeter - still usable?

Some of you guys with kids might be able to answer this one. ;-)

In a recent move, the dome on one of my tweeters got pushed in. I was able to pop it back out, but it left a crease.

See the high res pics (360KB):

Is it still usable, or is it going to have a noticeable affect on the sound? I don't have anything to test it with at the moment.

No problem-o ... keep 'em flyin' (The use of a vacuum cleaner to suck the dents out is not uncalled for.) Don't be too hard on the kids = be happy you don't have kittens with sharp claws ...

I have seen a lot worse. Sometimes you can get the dents/creases out with gold old sticky tape. Apply the sticky surface into the dent, then gently pull it out.

More stubborn dents can be popped out with a fine needle. Carefully go in at an angle that allows you to lift the crease, then withdraw the needle.

Good luck,

Geoff

I've tried this, but unless you have a way to plug the needle hole after the fact, this will affect the very high frequency response ... Elmer's Glue works until months later when the weight of the glue and stiffness of the glue becomes a problem re: response curve / audio quality ...
