Professional mic stand is the most suitable IMO. There are many spring loaded clamp or rubber retainer end bits to choose from.

Thanks! Does the supplied retainer tend to not fit on the ends of these larger stands?
I've got one like the above photos and they're only $20 off ebay! Does an excellent job leaning into a recliner where needed and I leave it permanently standing up in the rear corner of my HT. Also I might add to buy a 5mt USB extension cable also. Just a cheapy is fine as I use that for the mics, MiniDSP 2x4 and controllers while gaming when they are low and it's the best thing I have bought as it saves trying to sit a laptop within a meter of taking measurements...
