Default miniAMP and raspberry pi

hello
I am looking for a short signal path from source to speaker .
Can i use the i2s output of the pi to hook up to the miniamp? do i need other hardware ?
how do i control the volume ?
My speaker is 92 db markaudio 12p fullranger .
