I used to have trouble with connecting to the Minidsp4x10HD and it only stayed on for a few minutes.
If anybody is having the same problem, before you waste a weekend like I did, here is the solution:
In Windows 7, go to Device Manager and right click at the USB connections, then Power Management. They need to be always on. Never allow them go into sleepmode.
Bad for the environment, good for audio.
