is there such a thing as a wasted bandwidth award?

of course each comment bemoaning the inanity only further contributes to it

You don't have to be interested in it.

You don't have to read the thread.

You don't have to comment on it.

You don't have to say those interested in the subject shouldn't be or that we should spend our time in other ways.

Personally, I thank you for starting the thread Bob. Now, the rest of you **ss off. Go do what you like to do.

Hello Chaps,
Interesting thread. Apologies on the variation of Torx sizing, we have to purchase screws depending on availability of head stock. Screws are then made up the the lengths we require.

A note of caution for guys newer to using/installing screws of this type with power-drivers. Its quite easy to over-tighten the screw into the frame, risking frame distortion or worse, creating stress cracking. Here's my method for safely installing drivers:

Place the speaker in position, using the frame holes, gently mark the hole centres by using a 4mm punch of similar drill bit. Remove the speaker and drill 2.2mm pilot holes (M4 screws), work the screws in and out to create a thread. A little soap on the screw thread helps reduce friction. A power-driver for this part of the operation is useful.

When ready to final install, find yourself a suitable hand tool (see pic). Gently tighten the screws until the resistance quickly increases, A "nip up" is all that's needed. The frame's real seal applies a counter pressure to help maintain a stable installation so don't over-tighten!

Feel free to suggest installation variations and/or alternative fittings. I'll see if they are available at the right price.

Thanks
Mark.

Hi Dave,
How's your back/legs? We're trying to get air tickets for 2nd or 3rd week of September, HK to Vancouver. Will you be around so I can drive over to meet you?

I'll post travel timings on the health thread, see if we can meet as many members as possible.

Cheers
Mark.
