Hello Bill,
I promise I didn't view your comments as negative, just that the final observation to the commercial OEM side rarely fits with Diyer priorities. The 10 Gen.3 design upgrade was/is firmly influenced by Diyers and not by any of our commercial/OEM activity.

It is fair to say that the development of the Arrestor was more driven by our increasing OEM business, although it also benefits Diyers. Its a much easier "sell" now that we offer OEM's Full-Rangers that reduce their warranty claim worries.

I'm increasingly taking on projects from brands/OEMs mostly in Japan, who see that a "single driver does all" provides supply side cost saving benefits; While delivering Full-Rangers that are capable of coping with a typical "high-street" consumer service life operation.

Thanks
Mark.

looks like the perfect OEM driver to me. Off topic, ever thought about doing a dedicated metal cone woofer?

I absolutely adore the 10.2 (Enabled). When I heard it with a SET 2A3 amp the first thigh that I thought was "miraculous. it's a bloody miracle. a magic trick". I find it astonishing that it can be improved. Will it be perhaps a pros/cons deal where the new driver will have more of a 3D effect in the high end at expense of say the thickness/richness of the 10.2?

Happily no. The Gen.3 keeps the attributes you describe and adds more balance now the top end is extended. If anything, I personally find it more "rich" than the Gen.2 precisely because of its HF extension. When properly set-up, it doesn't "shout". You will hear more from this driver as the transmission losses from the new coil is reduced by 35% due to mass reduction. Remember, the emittance profile remains largely the same.

Where to expect a large difference will be in the Alpair 10P. This driver has an entirely new power-train.

Thx
Mark

Yes, I hope the Gen. 3 (with or without tweaks) will increase interest from OEM's.

Interestingly, such is the effective mechanical extension of the new drivers with the Arrestors, there's a number of guys in Japan actively tuning and extracting LF extension from 10's. You could take a look at Matsumoto san's work. He's compared the Alpair 10's LF performance against a 13cm woofer. I'll give you 1 guess as to which driver did better in the LF department:LEANAUDIO

Cheers
Mark.

Nice, I hope we would be able to pop in the 10.3 into a 10.2 Pensils.

Yes, but you'd do better with the proper one.
