Default 10.3 compact bass reflex build

Received my 10.3 drivers from Mark a couple weeks back and couldn't wait to make cabinets for these. First Mark Audio drivers i've ever had. This is the end result, sound is really fantastic.

- Volume is approximately 15L after deducting for cone volume, port volume and a single brace.
- Width of the speaker is 22 cm, Height 40 cm and Depth 28.5 cm.
- Bass reflex port is sighted on the underside, internal diameter 64 mm (standard gutter pipe) length 22cm for tuning to 49 Hz according to WinISD.
- This should give -3dB at just under 50 Hz.
- 18mm MDF used throughout apart from the front panel, 25mm MDF.
- Rubber feet raise the cabinet 20mm off the table, allowing bass reflex to operate satisfactorily.
- Finishing used Zinsser 123 primer and automotive top coat.

More photos of the build from start to finish can be viewed at:

**Thanks Mark for making these nice drivers for the diy people.**

Excellent !
Very nice tidy package.
As mentioned elsewhere, these drivers take a while to really sound their best.

Nice job! I've had alpair 10.1 and 10.2's and enjoyed them very much. They just keep sounding better and better, even after 6 months of playing! ENJOY!

It might be hard to get the 10.3s to "not work" in the strictest sense, but the enclosure might not be optimally tuned for them.

Note that the Alpair metal cone drivers are not likely to be any more rugged in terms of physical abuse than the Jordans - while the 10P papers could well be.

Has anyone compared the 10.3 with the 10p on pensil box?

The 10.3 as per specs seems to have a lower bottom end but the 10p is easier to drive at 89db.

While I have heard that the 10p is very good, but as Mark has intended the 10.3 to be the big brother of the 7.3, I am wondering if the 10.3 is better than the 10p using the same type of box.

I wonder if we could do a simple poll, Alpair, best for., bass dynamics, vocal etc...and each rate, this question has been asked so many times, and depends on so many factors, the only real way to say is personal evaluation.

Can we do a poll?
