Default alpair 10.2 accidental damage .... need advice

Hi ,
I am in the middle of my first diy speaker cabinet and I accidentaly dropped my LN key on the speaker diaphragm . I have attached pictures of the damage .

There is an indentation on the lower side of the speaker .
I do not see a tear/ crack there .
But assuming if it is , is the speaker gone ?

Need advice if it is serious damage ? what I can do about it ?

Manish

Hi

I think you should be fine.

Just do not try and repair it.

Thanks .But just for information , assuming if there is a small tear / crack . what are the options really ? i cannot play loud and with usage there tear will become bigger ?
Is there anything I could apply which would not make the crack bigger ? like some silicon glue , or anything else ?

I would suggest that you DO NOTHING, and enjoy your speakers despite this small blemish!

Hello Manish,
Alas accidents happen. Looking at the damage from your pics, it is minor so don't panic! The driver will function Ok provided you operate it under normal full-range service conditions (don't over-drive it)

You could choose to do the following:

1 - Do nothing, leave the ding alone.

2 - Using your index finger (making sure your finger nail is Not sharp), VERY Gently rub the back of the cone to push the ding out. Take your time doing this. With care you'll push 90% of the ding out.

I'm well skilled at getting dings out, its your first time so Don't rush it. Just work on the affected area with your finger nail.

Cheers
Mark.

Thanks Mark . I am leaving it as it is . I am hoping to listen to it soon, so do not want to risk more .
