Mark,

Dr. Alan Mui is a specialist in hepatology and gastroenterology but I don't think he is an oncologist. You may wanna give him a try though.

Hi mark,
I talked to a lady friend today. She was a registered nurse both in HK and USA.
Now she is working at the HK Chinese university to assist medical research.
She suggests the Sanitorium Hospital at happy Valley where has the best equipment etc.
Of course, Sanitorim Hospital is expensive compared to Government Hospitals.
I hope you can recover soon! take care.
Mark

Hi Fellas,
Many thanks for these suggestions, very welcome. I'm following up several recommendations including these, also Chinese medicine. I might use Xeloda (Roche) chemo which might slow me down somewhat. Not sure if I'll use it. As you might imagine, I'm not the average patient. I ask questions and make demands like:

"What and how EXACTLY will Xeloda benefit me?'

"Give me all the latest trial evidence that clearly demonstrates increased life expectance for early stage 2 colon cancer when using this drug"

"Be precise with regard to side effects in relation to dosages and the effective dosage range".

So far, 1 oncologist has run a mile. The approach was I should totally accept what is offered, only the oncologist knows best and hand over My credit cards - No Way! Given the horrendous cost of Xeloda and is long list of side effects, I insist on having all the facts and I'll decide what goes into my body!

Anyway, I'm much improved, I think my body needs another 2 or 3 weeks before I can go full time at the factory. We've not been idle. Watch out for some new info on drivers in the coming weeks!

Cheers
Mark.

Hey Mark,

Dealing with the difficulties of drilling down through so much information and misinformation so you can make an informed choice about how to move forward, must be exhausting in itself. Designing drive units must seem simple by comparison!

Onwards and upwards, Simon

Many thanks fellas for the continued good wishes and support. Much welcomed as I'm now entering a somewhat murky world on post operative treatment.

A chemo drug named Xeloda has been suggested, but there's little medical consensus, or comprehensive trial evidence on its effectiveness for earlier stage 2 colon cancer survivor's lie me. To chemo, or not to chemo, that is the question.

There are side effects with this drug, given that I'm currently embarked on a fitness program (swam 1/2 a kilometer yesterday with no stops, walking 8Km today) to fast-track me back into the factory, Xeloda's got to be darn good to convince me. I've got a tonne of research work backing up, want to get on with it.

You all know me well, I like to see test results, evidence etc etc.

Cheers
Mark.

a subject that is close to home, currently nursing my father - interestingly he wasnt allowed any supplements during treatment, lycopene etc. But diet wise, I went military with his food, as well as lots of fish and other things I introduced a mix of asian mushroom varieties, such as Shiitake, Maitake and Enoki, which i believe does make a difference.

Get well soon.
