Default Using the Markaudio Logo

Hi Guys,
I received several requests over the last 3 years for the use of the Markaudio logo to go on data plates to lend a pro-look to projects. Using the Markaudio logo on data plates poses a problem, its technically non-representative of the Markaudio brand. As we only make the driver, using our logo to represent the whole speaker system is mis-leading and as such, is technically illegal in many countries.

I ended up being drawn into 2 cases last year where individuals sold systems claiming them to be "Markaudio". They used my logo without any permission or reference to my company. It caused me allot of grief, money that could have gone into drivers and much wasted time.

I encourage members and all Diyers to make the best use of their skills to produce projects that look good as well as sound good. For non-commercial projects, should you wish to make a data plate and copy the Markaudio logo for use on your system, please put the following text on the plate:

1 - "System powered by Markaudio speaker drivers"
2 - Name the box designer (yourself or the name from the plan)
3 - Built by (your name or cabinet maker where practical)

When producing a system to a professional industry standard and wanting to use logos and trade-marks owned by others, please seek prior permission. Don't be disappointed if they say "no", as using someone else's commercial identity for your own purposes presents nightmarish representation issues.

For permission to use the Markaudio logo for all commercial purposes, please email me: support@markaudio.com

Its important to respect everyones work by being honest/transparent and as important, be proud of your work.

Cheers
Mark.

Thanks Chris, (Guys),
I welcome your understanding.

Looking at many of the project pics attached to posts, I believe many home-builders should put their own names of the systems they make. They're so good as to give pro and branded makers a real run for their money. I say be "proud" and put your name on your work.

I'm happy for home-makers to use my logo (as per my first post) as part of their effort to show folks that diy can be as good (and better) than some commercial offerings.

Cheers
Mark.
