So how long until we can play with these? I had planned to get another set pretty soon, might be worth waiting I think.

Hi Guys,
The first batch of Alpair 7 Gen.3's are on their way to Madisound USA. Here's the mass production data: I'm really pleased with our design modifications on the Gen. 3. Take a look at its frequency range data (particularly the Gen.2 - Gen.3 comparison data). Note we are running these tests in the anechoic chamber to +40-kHz. This driver is pretty much operating to Broadcast Standard (Fo=70Hz to 30-kHz at no more than 10dB total variance across this range). I feel sure no other single cone driver (no whizz, plugs etc) of this size is capable of equalling this Alp7's performance at this time. It goes to show what can be done to generate linearity over an extended frequency range. The off-axis response is also excellent. The multi-form cone and under-hung front suspensions are doing their work well. I takes along time in the anechoic chamber to setup the baffles to off-set positions. Fortunately, I had enough time allowed in the chamber to do all the off-axis data collection this time. Norio and me played the first pair off the line last Saturday. We were mighty pleased although I felt a bit apprehensive. Make sure guys that you get the rest of your system into shape. This Alp really wants to be fed only the best of inputs. You will hear everything! More detail on the build later Cheers Mark. Mark, sounds fantastic.
When will you ship these to Dave @ Planet10? I'll reread this thread (read it a while ago) but in short, do you feel that its a substantial improvement over version 2? Thanks, UL |

Ah Dave, since you are a reseller, I just figured you'd get it directly from Mark Audio. Did not know that Madisound also acts as a distributor.
Thanks Dave. UL ps: how in the world do you monitor all these threads and still get work done... |

Wow Mark, those frequency response plots you great!
Very interested in hearing these. Hopefully Dave has a pair setup at his DIY Fest in august. |
