Curious about the magnet covers. What is their purpose? Shielding? How do they add spl? Do most people use them?

The magnet covers also include a 2nd magnet. That is the important bit.

Unless you absolutely need a very shallow driver, i would not use the A7.3 without the 2nd magnet. And it wouldn't hurt to glue it down.

It is also very important to make sure that it is seated all the way. I've handled a lot of them, and it is far too easy for the 2nd magnet to sit cockeyed.
