If actively crossing over at 300hz or higher, does the efficiency increase and if so by how much?

No. The only way you can increase the efficiency of a driver is to horn load it (front horn. A back-horn, like all other vented boxes, only functions over a relatively narrow BW). However, by high-passing it, you will get more dynamic headroom & reduced distortion from the overall speaker system as the small A6 is not being asked to handle the LF, where power / excursion demands are highest.

Hello all,

It's my first post in this great forum.

I'm planning a FAST system with Alpair 6M Gen2. The problem is SDX7 is out of stock. Any idea about wich other 6-8"
woofer can work?. What about MA woofer 6?. Speakers will play rock and movies (no classical music).

The croosover is active with Minidsp.

Thank you, and please excuse my bad english.

Almost any good midwoofer will do.

I used SDX7 with the FF85KeN in th Tysen. I used a pair of MA $6 (CSS EL166) midbass in the next one.

The Alpair6.2s will adily fill the role the Fostex does in these. My next FAST will use a pair of Alpair5 (cabs done)

Mark's proto 6.5" Woofer, 1" silk Tweet combo (and the following posts)

Will the Alpair 6M produce more bass than the Alpair 7?

No, i don't think so. It will thou likely be the 3" leader in bass production.

I like small drivers. How close would it be? As a point of reference, would the 6 have more bass output than let's say the Fe103e?
