Maybe an idea:
Use a large circular hole saw (you know , for use on a drill) for drilling a large hole in the back of the speaker; then stuff the dampening material in the speaker, then glue the sawed out disk on al larger rectangular piece of board, wich could be screwed on the back of the speaker. greetings, Paul. |

Damping, just the walls -- at least to start.
If you find BSC is needed the best way is likely a BIG poly cap across the bottom of the 2 series connected A7 dave

Do you think this dual A7 design would work with the Alpair 7.3?

Monte Verdi,
Just sharing an expereince - might not be directly applicable for the Alp 7.3 and Studio Monitors. I have the A12 and built a pair of Studio Ref. Monitors for the A12. Getting unhappy with the bass (too much of it!) I opted to build P10 Dave's CGR Mar-Ken12 and am finding the bass articulation pretty delightful. The DBR boxes were nice, but I like the tighness and clearer presentation of the Ken boxes. YMMV though! If you have 2x2 Alp 7.3, have you considered a Twin Mar-Ken7.3? I know there exsists a Mar-Kel^2 and Twin CHR-Ken... even a Twin Mar-Ken10.2 -right Dave? There should be a Twin Mar-ken7.3 somewhere |

The two DBRs have adjustable damping, i.e. you need to be proactive & adjust the quantity to suit personal requirements. No such box for the 7.3 though.

Hmm... that might be well worth a try. I still have the cabs and I did make them with removable backs. And no offense, the DBR cabs were impressive in their own way with very good bass extension and ability to play loud with little/no cone excursion. I enjoyed listening to them.
