You guys remind me of this scene.

Hey Mark,

are this the final Parameters of the Woofer No. 6? I just bought a pair of those in Europe, Germany. The local distributor provide some different data:

Fs 39,51Hz
Re 7,5 Ohm
Vas 34,50 l.
Qes 0,456
Qms 2,9509
Qts 0,395
Sd 137 cm²
Mms 12,29 g
SPL 88,71 dB
BxL 7,0858

Did the european market receive different samples?

With kind regards, Alex

Hello Alex,
I think you bought the drivers from Blue Planet Acoustic? They do their own testing which is NOT anechoic, publishing their own data without any consultation with me. I recommend you follow my anechoic LMS data.

Blue Planet Acoustic are no longer my main dealer for Europe.

Many thanks
Mark.

Hello Mark,

thank you for the reply.

I didnt buy them at the shop you mentioned, but I know they have/had such woofers...However, I'am going to use your data. (Btw, what do you think about a closed box design with a lift in the low frequences via DSP ?!)

Why ? Send me an PM if necessary.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your support. I think the re-seller that sold you the No.6 woofs will have been supplied from Blue Planet, your re-seller using their data.

I've enjoyed my time with Nick and Thorsten at Blue Planet. They are nice guys but Markaudio is growing; Its time to take a fresh look at how Europe Diyers are best supported and supplied. See this thread:

European Distribution - your opinions, ideas

Thanks
Mark.

or you could put them in a smallish closed box (qb=0.9) and add a 470µF series capacitor

Hello everyone, I just quickly flipped through the last 10 or so pages.

Is there a first order design idea yet using a tweet and woofer ?

Norman

Well here are a couple of my 2-way designs using the Woofer #6 (EL166) and Tweeter #3 (ERT26) and using a first order crossover. The second larger floorstander using 4-woofers started life using the T#3 but with the gain in SPL of the 4 series/parallel wired woofers raising to 93dB/94dB it was just a little too much to ask of the excellent 1" silk dome tweeter. So I now use the Monacor ribbon tweeter. The midrange from the floorstanders has been favourably likened to that of my Quad63 ESLs. A testament to Marks design of the woofer.

These drivers are excellent performers as a simple 2-way speaker.
