Thre would be great advantage to hexoganal wire in a hex lay format, as morel and and many others have found re their voice coils, tara labs, ribbon coils, etc.
Strange the conversation is. As in they aren't familiar with the techniques and the thoughts behind them - like the conversation came out of a 1963 blogger posting, which is impossible. Strange. To give you an example, the local Canadian military college where I am located near (RMC), designed and built a toroidal transformer. This single toroidal transformer, built for working on experimenation and theoretical considerations, cost $1M. Why? It was literally formed from a single strand that was cut and shaped to have PERFECT FILL. Yes, you read that right. Perfect fill. Thus, no air gaps between the wires of any kind. The thickness and shaping of the wire was, and is, -perfect- throughout the entire run. Imagine the hassle of making that strand of enameled wire!! Thus the $1M cost. The technique and the hardware had to be invented. Today, I can 'copy' it -- for nearly nothing. But I'm not about to tell you how.
