I want some Octoberfest pilsner.

When I was in Germany for 10 days, about 2 years back, the Octoberfest beers were -just- beginning to be brought into the pubs.

It was:

beer for breakfast.
Beer for early lunch break.
Beer for for lunch and after lunch.
Beer for afternoon business meetings.
Beer for early evening snack.
Beer with evening dinner.
Beer for evening cool down time.
Beer before bed.

mmmmmmmm....German Octoberfest pilsners. Truly heaven. If you have ever ate truly fresh fruit or similar (picking strawberries in the field), right off the tree, that's what those pilsners are like. Like no other beer I've ever tasted.

I tried to stock up, before having to go to England, by drinking three in the airport lounge. I brought something for England when I got off the plane from Germany, at Heathrow..

Then, I was down to looking at cameras and bad teeth everywhere, getting hit by funny looking cars going in all the wrong places, and bad beer. Damn. Oh yeah. Really, really bad advertising. And more cameras. An unbelievable number of cameras. I kept trying the different beers, but I have noted preference for light , but very, very slightly sharp pilsners.

I must have walked over the exact point that was bombed (the following year - 10 months later) at least 5-6 times, in downtown London.

Oh yes, the head. I don't care, just give me a nice pilsner, that I can gobble down now, please and thank you.

I'm making do with Kenyan 'Tusker' beer right now, and it's darned good itself. A bit pricey though, about $75 for a case, special order only.

I remember a London pub where the bartender apologized for the head on the pint.
He scraped it off and filled the glass completely with beer…shocking. Too late we thought and invited him to come over to Belgium for a course. Too late also, it was near closing time and we had to drink as fast as we could.

In London I'd expect a full beer glass simply because the prices are higher. Travel out of London to Kent and sample the better beers

Yeah they have changed the licensing laws so that silly drinking pints as fast as you can has ended.
